The Inaccurate Autofill
Google Chrome features a robust Autofill system designed to save you time when shopping online or filling out registration forms. It remembers your name, phone number, email, and physical addresses. When you click into a text box on a website, Chrome automatically drops down a list of suggested addresses to click. However, if you have moved recently, or if you frequently type in addresses for clients rather than yourself, this feature becomes a massive nuisance. Chrome will constantly suggest incorrect, outdated addresses, forcing you to carefully maneuver around the popup just to type a completely new address into the form.
Disabling the Address Suggestions
To keep your forms clean and stop Google Chrome from automatically suggesting addresses and popping up autofill boxes, you must disable the specific address-saving feature within the browser settings.
Open Google Chrome and click the three vertical dots (the customize and control menu) in the extreme top-right corner of the window. Select Settings from the dropdown list. In the left-hand navigation pane, click on Autofill and passwords. In the main central panel, click on Addresses and more. Look at the very top of this page for the primary toggle switch labelled Save and fill addresses. Click this toggle so it turns gray (Off). From now on, when you click into a text field on a website asking for a street address or zip code, Chrome will remain completely silent, offering no dropdown suggestions and allowing you to type without interference.
