Many Android smartphones manufactured by Chinese brands like Xiaomi, Redmi, POCO, and Realme ship with a highly controversial feature enabled by default: device watermarking. Every time you take a photograph with the native camera app, the software automatically burns a permanent text logo into the bottom-left corner of the image (e.g., “SHOT ON POCO X3 NFC – AI QUAD CAMERA”).
While the manufacturers use this as a free marketing tactic to promote their brand on social media, it completely ruins personal photographs. If you are taking a beautiful portrait of a family member or a landscape shot of a sunset, you absolutely do not want a bright white corporate logo permanently stamped over the scenery.
You can easily disable this branding feature in the camera settings to ensure your photos remain clean and professional.
How to Remove Camera Watermarks (Xiaomi/Realme)
This setting is located deep within the native Camera application.
- Open the default Camera app on your Android smartphone.
- Look for the Settings menu. On Xiaomi devices, tap the three horizontal lines (hamburger menu) in the top right corner, then tap the Settings gear icon.
- In the Camera Settings menu, look for an option labeled Watermark. Tap on it.
- You will see a toggle switch labeled Device watermark (and possibly a second one for “Time watermark”).
- Turn the toggle switch to the Off position.
The change is instantaneous. The next time you press the shutter button, the resulting photograph will be perfectly clean, with no manufacturer logos or timestamps burned into the pixels.
