In today’s digital world, it is impossible to remember a unique password for every single website and app. Thankfully, Apple’s built-in iCloud Keychain securely saves and autofills your passwords for you. If you need to look up a forgotten password to log in on a different device, you can easily view your saved credentials right from your iPhone.
How to View Passwords (iOS 18 and Later)
If your iPhone is updated to iOS 18 or a newer software version, Apple has moved all of your credentials into a brand new, dedicated app.
- Go to your Home Screen or App Library and tap on the Passwords app (the icon looks like a key).
- Your iPhone will prompt you to authenticate using Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode.
- Tap the All folder to see a complete alphabetical list of your saved accounts.
- You can use the search bar at the top to quickly find a specific website or app.
- Tap on an entry to view the username and password. You can tap the password field itself to copy it to your clipboard.
How to View Passwords (iOS 17 and Earlier)
If you are running older software, your passwords are kept safe inside the main Settings app.
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
- Scroll down and tap on Passwords (it is usually located right below the General and Control Center sections).
- Authenticate with Face ID, Touch ID, or your passcode.
- Scroll through the list or use the search bar at the top to find the account you need.
- Tap the account to reveal the password.
Pro Tip: If you use Google Chrome as your primary browser instead of Safari, your passwords might be saved to your Google Account instead of your iPhone. To view those, open Chrome, tap the three dots, go to Settings, and tap Password Manager.
