When you are managing a massive 500-page PDF document on a macOS workstation and you must mathematically strip out specific, confidential pages before transmitting the payload to a third party, relying on heavy PDF editing suites is highly inefficient. To force the native macOS Core Graphics engine to execute a surgical amputation of designated geometric data blocks, you must deploy the Deletion matrix within the Preview application.
Deploying the Geometric Deletion Matrix
The Preview engine is deeply integrated with the macOS Quartz rendering system, allowing it to mathematically isolate individual pages within a compiled vector document and violently strip them from the file architecture.
- Locate your massive target PDF file in Finder and double-click to open it natively in Preview.
- Look at the absolute top menu bar. Click the View menu.
- From the drop-down array, select Thumbnails (or execute the hotkey: Option + Cmd + 2). This spawns a geometric sidebar displaying every single page in sequence.
Executing the Surgical Amputation
- Scroll through the Thumbnail sidebar until you locate the specific page you need to eradicate.
- Click on the target thumbnail to mathematically select it (it will become highlighted with a gray or blue border).

It violently shreds the vector data associated with that specific page, mathematically removing it from the file entirely. The remaining pages instantly snap together to seal the geometric void. You must then press Cmd + S to permanently lock the new, amputated file structure to your hard drive.
