When you receive a digital contract or legal PDF on a macOS workstation, physically printing the document, signing it with ink, and scanning it back into the digital matrix is mathematically inefficient. To force the native macOS Core Graphics engine to permanently fuse a cryptographic representation of your physical signature directly into the vector document, you must deploy the Signature protocol within the Preview application.
Executing the Digital Signature Matrix
The Preview engine contains a highly advanced biometric capture subroutine. It allows you to utilize your physical hardware (the Trackpad or the iSight Camera) to generate a scalable vector graphic (SVG) of your signature, which can be infinitely reused.
- Locate your target legal PDF file in Finder and double-click to open it natively in Preview.
- Look at the absolute top menu bar. Click the View menu and select Show Markup Toolbar (or execute the hotkey: Shift + Cmd + A).
- On the newly spawned Markup Toolbar, locate the Signature icon (it visually resembles a cursive scribble). Click it.
- From the drop-down array, select Create Signature.
Deploying the Biometric Capture
- The macOS kernel will spawn the capture modal, offering three distinct geometric vectors:
- Trackpad: The OS converts your glass trackpad into an absolute input matrix. Use your finger or a stylus to physically draw your signature on the pad. Press any key on the keyboard when finished.
- Camera: Sign your name on a physical piece of white paper. Hold it up to your Mac’s webcam. The AI subroutine will mathematically extract the ink and convert it into a vector overlay.
- iPhone/iPad: If authenticated to the same iCloud node, the OS will instantly push a capture screen to your mobile device, allowing you to sign with an Apple Pencil or finger.
- Once captured, tap Done.
- Click the Signature icon on the toolbar again, select your newly generated vector asset, and it will instantly spawn onto the PDF canvas.
- Click and drag the geometric asset to the precise signature line. You can mathematically scale it using the corner nodes. Press Cmd + S to permanently lock the fusion.
