The Disruptive Warning
When you use an Apple MacBook, the operating system employs a variety of visual and auditory cues to keep you informed about system status. One of the most aggressive notifications is the low battery warning sound. When your battery level drops to approximately ten percent, macOS will abruptly interrupt whatever you are doing—whether you are presenting a slideshow, listening to music, or working in a quiet environment—with a loud, system-level alert tone.
Silencing the Alert
Unlike iOS, macOS does not provide a simple, dedicated toggle switch within the standard System Settings to turn off this specific battery alert. However, you can bypass the audible warning by modifying how the system handles critical notifications. Open the System Settings application and navigate to the Notifications menu in the left-hand sidebar.
Scroll through your list of applications until you locate the entry for System Messages or System Alerts. Click on it to view the notification permissions. Find the toggle switch labelled Play sound for notification and turn it off. By disabling this setting, macOS will still display the visual warning banner in the corner of your screen when your battery is low, but it will no longer play the disruptive alert sound.
