The Apple Notes app is a powerful, deeply integrated utility in iOS, utilized by millions for jotting down thoughts, saving links, scanning documents, and storing highly sensitive information (even with its locking capabilities). This guide explains how to completely disable the native Notes app system-wide on an iPhone using Apple’s Screen Time restrictions, effectively removing the app from the user interface.
Disable the Notes App via Screen Time
Because Notes is a core iOS application, it cannot be traditionally uninstalled in a way that prevents it from being easily restored. Instead, we must utilize Content & Privacy Restrictions to completely suppress its execution.
- Unlock the iPhone and open the main Settings app.
- Scroll down and tap on Screen Time.
- If you haven’t already, tap Turn On Screen Time and follow the prompts. (For maximum security, ensure you tap Use Screen Time Passcode to set a PIN that prevents unauthorized changes).
- Tap on Content & Privacy Restrictions.
- Toggle the main Content & Privacy Restrictions switch at the top to the On (green) position.
