How to Change the Siri Voice on Your Apple HomePod

By default, the Siri voice on your Apple HomePod is set to match the primary language and region of your Apple ID. However, Apple offers a surprisingly diverse array of Siri voices, including different accents (such as British, Australian, Irish, or Indian) and gender-neutral options. If you are tired of the default American voice, you can easily change how Siri sounds on your smart speaker.

Unlike an iPhone where you change the Siri voice in the main Settings app, managing a HomePod requires using the Home app on an iOS device.

How to Change the Voice via the Home App

To change the voice, you must use an iPhone or iPad that is signed in to the same Apple ID used to set up the HomePod.

  1. Open the Home app on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Locate your HomePod in the list of accessories. It may be assigned to a specific room, like “Living Room.”
  3. Press and hold on the HomePod icon to open a pop-up menu.
  4. Scroll down to the very bottom of the pop-up menu and tap the gear icon (Accessory Settings).
  5. Scroll down the settings page until you find the section labeled “Siri.”
  6. Tap on Siri Voice.
  7. You will be presented with a list of “Varieties” (regional accents) and “Voices” (different pitches and tones). Tap through the options to hear a brief audio sample of each voice.
  8. Once you select a voice you like, simply tap the back button to save your changes.

The HomePod will download the necessary audio files for the new voice in the background. It may take a few minutes before Siri starts exclusively using the new voice for all responses.

Note: Changing the Siri voice on your HomePod only affects that specific speaker. It will not change the Siri voice on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac. If you have multiple HomePods, you must change the voice for each speaker individually.
