The Emoji Clutter
The standard iPhone keyboard includes a dedicated Emoji panel for quickly inserting smileys and icons. However, Apple recently integrated “Memoji Stickers” directly into this panel. These are large, personalized cartoon avatars (often animals or custom faces) that consume the entire left side of your frequently used emoji list. If you never use these massive stickers in your professional or casual communications, they serve only to push your actual favorite emojis further to the right, requiring you to swipe across the screen just to find a standard smiley face. You must manually remove the stickers from the keyboard layout.
How to Turn Off Memoji Stickers
You can permanently delete the avatar section from your Emoji keyboard via the General settings.
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
- Scroll down and tap on General.
- Scroll down and tap on Keyboard.
- Scroll down to the absolute bottom of the Keyboard settings page.
- Look for the toggle switch labeled Memoji Stickers.
- Toggle this switch to the Off position (the green background will disappear).
A Restored Emoji Panel
The change takes effect instantly. The iPhone will completely sever the avatar rendering engine from the keyboard. The next time you tap the smiley face icon to open your emoji list, the massive Memoji stickers will be completely gone. Your standard, frequently used emojis will return to their rightful place on the far left side of the screen, restoring a fast and efficient typing experience.
