Reality Composer is Apple’s native augmented reality (AR) authoring application, designed to enable users to create interactive 3D AR experiences using the device’s camera, LiDAR scanner, and ARKit framework. This guide explains how to completely disable the ‘Reality Composer’ app system-wide on an iPhone, ensuring the application is cryptographically neutralised, the UI icon is purged, and the device cannot be used as an unsanctioned spatial mapping tool.
Disable Reality Composer via Screen Time Content Restrictions
To enforce a strict, irreversible block at the iOS kernel level and completely eradicate the Reality Composer binary from the system, we must utilise Screen Time’s cryptographic Content Restrictions to prevent reinstallation.
- Unlock the iPhone and open the main Settings app.
- Tap on Screen Time. (If this is not yet configured, tap “Turn On Screen Time” and define a secure, alphanumeric passcode known only to the IT administrator).
- Tap on Content & Privacy Restrictions.
