Pairing your AirPods with an Apple TV is a brilliant way to enjoy your favourite films and television shows on the big screen without disturbing others in your household. Thanks to Apple’s ecosystem, the connection process is incredibly seamless, particularly if your devices share the same iCloud account.
Automatic Pairing via iCloud
If your AirPods are already paired with an iPhone or iPad, and that device shares the same Apple ID as your Apple TV, the AirPods should automatically appear as an output option.
- Ensure your AirPods are in your ears or the case is open nearby.
- On the Apple TV Home Screen, press and hold the TV/Control Centre button on your Siri Remote.
- Select the Audio tab (represented by the AirPlay icon).
- Choose your AirPods from the list of available devices.
Manual Pairing Process
If your AirPods are not associated with the same Apple ID, or if you are connecting them for the first time, you can pair them manually via Bluetooth:
- Put your AirPods in their charging case and keep the lid open.
- Press and hold the setup button on the back of the case until the status light begins flashing white.
- On your Apple TV, navigate to Settings > Remotes and Devices > Bluetooth.
- Wait for your AirPods to appear under the Other Devices section.
- Select them using your Siri Remote to complete the pairing process.
Once connected, the audio from your Apple TV will instantly route through your AirPods, providing you with a personal, immersive viewing experience.
