How to Turn Google Assistant Off on Android

Do you find Google Assistant constantly popping up when you don’t want it to? It’s quite easy to turn Google Assistant off on your Android device. Just follow the instructions below (note that steps may vary slightly depending on your Android version and future updates).

How to Turn Google Assistant Off

You can manage Google Assistant directly from the Google app or the dedicated Assistant app:

  1. Open the Google app on your phone.
  2. Tap on the More icon (or your profile picture) at the bottom right or top right of the screen.
  3. Select Settings and then tap on Google Assistant. (If you have the standalone Google Assistant app, you can open it directly and click on your profile icon in the top right corner).
  4. Scroll down the page until you see the ALL SETTINGS section.
  5. Under ALL SETTINGS, select General.
  6. You will see a toggle switch for Google Assistant. Turn the switch to the Off position to disable it.

Once disabled, Google Assistant will no longer launch automatically or listen for voice commands on your device.
