The Communication Suppression Vector
If you are being harassed by relentless telemarketing bots or an aggressive individual, simply ignoring the calls is insufficient. The constant ringing and incoming text alerts disrupt your workflow and consume battery life. You must instruct the core cellular modem architecture within your iPhone to execute a total cryptographic blockade. When the target number attempts to establish a handshake, the iOS kernel must intercept the signal at the hardware level and immediately sever the connection before the phone even rings.
How to Block a Number on iPhone
Apple engineered this suppression protocol to be accessible directly from the Phone app’s call history, bypassing the need to navigate complex security settings.
1. The Target Acquisition Phase:
* Open the native Phone app on your iPhone (the green icon with a white handset).
* Look at the bottom navigation bar and tap on Recents (the clock icon).
* Scroll through your call history and locate the exact spam number that just harassed you.
2. The Execution Trigger:
* Crucial Rule: Do not tap the actual phone number, or the device will instantly attempt to call the spammer back.
* Instead, tap the small, blue “i” (Information) icon located on the absolute far right edge of that specific row.
3. The Finalization Protocol:
* A new contact card menu will slide up, displaying the caller’s details.
* Scroll all the way down to the very bottom of this menu.
* Locate the text written in bold red: Block this Caller.
* Tap it.
* A secondary confirmation box will pop up from the bottom, warning you that you will not receive phone calls, messages, or FaceTime requests from people on the block list.
* Tap Block Contact to execute the command.
4. The Aftermath:
* The blockade is instantaneous and permanent.
* If the spammer calls again, your phone will not ring, vibrate, or light up. The carrier network will instantly route the spammer directly to your voicemail system.
* (To reverse this in the future, navigate to Settings > Phone > Blocked Contacts, swipe left on the number, and tap Unblock).
