The Geographic Surveillance Vector
When you install a new application on your iPhone—whether it is a weather app, a food delivery service, or a social network—it frequently requests access to your GPS coordinates. While some apps genuinely require this data to function, many use it to quietly track your daily routines and build granular profiles of your movements. If you granted location access to an app months ago but now wish to restrict it, you must manually revoke those permissions at the system level.
How to Disable Location Services for a Specific App
iOS provides a centralized privacy dashboard allowing you to surgically cut off GPS access to any individual application without affecting the rest of the system.
1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
2. Scroll down and tap on Privacy & Security.
3. At the very top of the menu, tap on Location Services.
4. You will see a comprehensive list of every application installed on your device that has requested location access. Scroll down and tap on the specific app you want to restrict.
5. Under the Allow Location Access section, select Never.
The application is now entirely cut off from the iPhone’s GPS hardware. If you open the app in the future, it will be completely blind to your physical location unless you explicitly grant it permission again.
