The Notification Vector
Modern web browsing has been increasingly compromised by websites abusing the native notification system. By default, Google Chrome allows any website (from news publishers to blogs) to aggressively trigger a pop-up prompt asking for permission to send you push notifications. For the vast majority of users, these prompts are an irritating disruption that breaks the flow of reading or working, often leading to accidental approvals and a barrage of unwanted desktop spam.
How to Disable Notification Prompts Globally
You can instruct Chrome to silently block all notification requests before they even appear on your screen.
1. Open Google Chrome.
2. Click the three vertical dots in the top-right corner to access the main menu.
3. Select Settings.
4. In the left-hand navigation pane, click on Privacy and security.
5. Click on Site settings.
6. Scroll down to the Permissions section and click on Notifications.
7. Locate the default behaviour options and select the radio button next to Don’t allow sites to send notifications.
Chrome will now automatically reject all future notification requests from every website, ensuring a completely uninterrupted browsing experience.
