The Login Interruption
One of the most irritating trends on the modern web is the “Sign in with Google” prompt. Whenever you visit a news website, a forum, or an online store, a massive drop-down banner violently slides out from the top right corner of the screen, aggressively asking if you want to create an account using your Google profile. Because Google Chrome is built by the same company, the browser deeply integrates this third-party tracking API by default. If you prefer to create unique, isolated accounts for every website and refuse to link your entire browsing history to your Google identity, you must force Chrome to automatically reject every single one of these login requests.
How to Block Third-Party Sign-In Prompts Globally
You can permanently lock the browser out of the federated login system via the Site Settings.
- Open the Google Chrome desktop browser.
- Click the three vertical dots (⋮) in the top right corner and select Settings.
- In the left-hand sidebar, click on Privacy and security.
- In the main window, click on Site settings.
- Scroll down to the bottom and click to expand Additional content settings.
- Click on Third-party sign-in.
- Under the “Default behavior” heading, select the radio button for “Block sign-in prompts from identity services.”
A Clean Browsing Experience
The change takes effect instantly. Google Chrome will completely sever the internal connection to the Federated Credential Management API. The browser will instantly and silently auto-reject the “Sign in with Google” script on every single website you visit. You will never again be violently interrupted by a massive drop-down banner begging you to link your accounts, guaranteeing a completely clean, distraction-free reading experience.
