When you open a New Tab in Microsoft Edge, the browser displays a prominent row of “Quick Links” just below the main search bar. These icons act as shortcuts to websites you visit frequently, and occasionally, Microsoft will inject sponsored shortcuts into this list. While designed for convenience, many users find these icons visually cluttered, especially if they already use the dedicated Favorites bar or simply prefer a clean, minimalist New Tab page containing only a beautiful background image. You can easily hide the Quick Links row entirely.
How to Hide Quick Links in Microsoft Edge
You can customize the layout of the New Tab page directly from its built-in settings menu.
- Open the Microsoft Edge browser.
- Click the + button at the top of the window to open a New Tab.
- Look in the top-right corner of the New Tab page (just below the main toolbar) and click the gear icon (Page Settings).
- A settings menu will slide out from the right side of the screen.
- Look down the list of options until you find the toggle labelled Quick links.
- Click the toggle switch to move it to the Off position (the toggle will turn grey).
The row of website icons and sponsored shortcuts will instantly vanish from the center of your screen. Your New Tab page will now look significantly cleaner. If you ever want the shortcuts back, simply reopen the Page Settings gear menu and toggle the switch back to the On position.
