How to Completely Disable ‘Guest Mode’ (Multiple Users) System-Wide on Android

Modern Android smartphones natively support a “Multiple Users” feature, commonly referred to as Guest Mode. This allows you to hand your phone to a friend or a child, giving them a completely isolated, sandbox environment with its own set of apps, settings, and home screens, completely separate from your primary data. However, in a corporate MDM (Mobile Device Management) scenario or a strict parental control setup, Guest Mode is a massive loophole. If a user is restricted from accessing certain apps or websites on the primary profile, they can simply switch to the Guest profile, connect to an unrestricted Wi-Fi network, and bypass all local device policies entirely.

This guide explains how to completely disable the Multiple Users (Guest Mode) feature system-wide on your Android smartphone.

Disable Multiple Users (Guest Mode)

To secure the device and ensure only the primary, managed profile is active, we must explicitly disable the multi-user framework.

  1. Open the main Settings app on your Android smartphone.
  2. Scroll down to the bottom and tap on System.
  3. Locate and tap on Multiple users.
  4. At the top of the screen, you will see a master toggle switch named Allow multiple users (or simply “Use multiple users”).
  5. Tap the switch to toggle it to the Off (grey) position.
  6. (Note: If you have already created a Guest profile, this action will immediately delete it and all its associated sandboxed data).

Verify the Profile Lockdown

Toggling this switch immediately collapses the multi-user framework and deletes any isolated profiles residing on the storage partition.

To verify the restriction is active, pull down the Quick Settings shade twice from the top of your screen. Look at the bottom-right corner of the Quick Settings panel. The circular user profile icon (which previously allowed you to quickly switch to a Guest account) will be completely missing. The device is now permanently locked into the primary user profile, ensuring that all local restrictions, parental controls, and MDM policies are strictly enforced across the entire operating system without any sandbox loopholes.
