The Predictive Text engine on the iPhone keyboard is designed to analyse your typing habits and offer suggested words or phrases in the grey bar directly above the keys. Disable Predictive Text via iOS Keyboard Settings
The primary method to deactivate the suggestion engine is through the main iOS settings menu, which governs all system-wide keyboard behaviours.
- Unlock your iPhone and open the Settings app.
- Scroll down and tap on General.
- Scroll down and select Keyboard to access all typing-related preferences.
- Under the All Keyboards section, locate the toggle switch for Predictive.
- Turn the switch to the Off position (the switch will turn grey).
Once you toggle this setting off, the three-panel suggestion bar above the keyboard will immediately vanish. This reclaims screen space and ensures you only type the exact characters you manually select.
Disable Predictive Text Directly from the Keyboard
