How to Use Windows 11 God Mode to Access Hidden Settings

As Microsoft has modernised the Windows interface over the last decade, they have aggressively hidden advanced system settings. The shiny new “Settings” app in Windows 11 is user-friendly, but it often lacks the granular control power users need. Finding the legacy Control Panel menus to adjust complex network adapters or manage disk partitions can require digging through dozens of nested menus.

Fortunately, there is a legendary, hidden shortcut known as God Mode (officially called the Windows Master Control Panel). By creating a specifically named folder, you can generate a single, centralised list containing over 200 advanced administrative tools and settings. In this guide, you will learn how to unlock it.

How to Enable Windows 11 God Mode

Enabling God Mode requires no special software or registry hacks; it simply involves creating a folder with a highly specific string of code as its name.

  1. Navigate to your Windows 11 Desktop.
  2. Right-click on any empty space on the wallpaper.
  3. From the context menu, select New > Folder.
  4. A new folder will appear, and the name “New folder” will be highlighted, ready for you to type.
  5. Copy and paste the exact text string below into the folder name field:

    GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}
  6. Press Enter.

The moment you press Enter, the standard yellow folder icon will instantly transform into a blue Control Panel icon, and the long string of text will disappear. You have successfully created the God Mode shortcut.

Note: You can actually replace the word “GodMode” at the beginning of the string with any name you prefer, such as “AdvancedTools.{ED7BA470…}”. The text before the period dictates the display name.

Using the God Mode Panel

Double-click your new icon to open it. You will be presented with a massive, alphabetised list of administrative tools.

The panel is divided into over 30 categories. Some of the most useful hidden tools include:

  • Administrative Tools: Direct access to the Event Viewer, Resource Monitor, and Windows Memory Diagnostic.
  • AutoPlay: Deep controls over exactly what Windows does when you insert a USB drive or memory card.
  • Disk Management: Quickly access the tool required to format drives, create partitions, and assign drive letters.
  • Network and Sharing Center: Instant access to advanced adapter settings and IP configuration, bypassing the simplified Windows 11 network menus.
  • Power Options: Direct links to edit advanced power plans, choose what the physical power button does, and configure hard disk sleep timers.

Organising the Shortcuts

While having 200 settings in one place is powerful, scrolling through the massive list can be tedious. The true advantage of the God Mode folder is that it acts as a repository of shortcuts.

If you find yourself constantly accessing a specific obscure setting (e.g., “Create and format hard disk partitions”):

  1. Locate the setting inside the God Mode folder.
  2. Click and hold the setting icon.
  3. Drag it directly out of the folder and drop it onto your Desktop (or pin it to your Start menu).

You now have a direct, one-click shortcut to that specific advanced setting, completely bypassing the Windows 11 Settings app.

By unlocking God Mode, you bypass Microsoft’s simplified interface and regain total administrative control over your Windows operating system.
