The Control Center in macOS is the incredibly useful panel located in the top-right corner of your screen (the icon with two small toggle switches). By default, it houses your Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, AirDrop, and volume sliders. However, Apple actually lets you heavily customize this panel, allowing you to add shortcuts for Accessibility, Battery percentage, and Fast User Switching so you do not have to dig into System Settings every time.
How to Add or Remove Modules
You can manage exactly what appears in the Control Center directly from your Mac’s system settings.
- Click the Apple Logo in the top-left corner of the screen.
- Select System Settings… from the dropdown menu.
- Scroll down the left-hand sidebar and click on Control Center.
- On the right side of the window, you will see a massive list of modules categorized by “Control Center Modules” (which are permanent) and “Other Modules” (which are optional).
- Scroll down to the Other Modules section.
- Find a feature you want to add, such as Accessibility Shortcuts or Battery.
- Toggle the switch labelled Show in Control Center to the On position.
The change is instantaneous. If you click your Control Center icon in the menu bar right now, you will see your brand-new shortcuts sitting neatly at the bottom of the panel. You can also use this exact same Settings page to pin any of these modules directly to your main Menu Bar so they are always visible without even opening the Control Center.
