How to Use Q&A in Google Meet to Collect, Moderate, and Upvote Audience Questions

During large town halls, team webinars, and lecture presentations on Google Meet, encouraging audience engagement through standard in-meeting chat quickly becomes chaotic. Crucial technical and business questions get buried underneath greetings, reaction emojis, and side conversations. To structure audience inquiry, Google Workspace includes a dedicated Q&A panel that allows participants to submit, upvote, and track questions without disrupting speaker flow.

Enabling Q&A as a Meeting Host

Meeting hosts and co-hosts can activate the Q&A feature before or during a live video call:

  1. Join your scheduled meeting on Google Meet.
  2. In the bottom-right corner of the interface, click on the Activities icon (the triangle, square, and circle emblem).
  3. From the activities panel, select Q&A.
  4. Click Turn on Q&A to allow attendees to submit queries.

Moderating and Filtering Audience Inquiries

Google Meet equips organizers with powerful moderation controls to maintain orderly discussions:

  • Audience Upvoting: Meeting participants can browse submitted questions and click the Upvote thumbs-up icon. The host panel automatically reorders questions by popularity, highlighting topics most important to the audience.
  • Marking as Answered: As presenters address questions verbally, the host can click the green checkmark to mark them as Answered, keeping the active queue tidy.
  • Hiding and Deleting: Irrelevant or inappropriate inquiries can be hidden from public view by clicking the eye icon or permanently removed by clicking the trash icon.

Reviewing Post-Meeting Q&A Reports

When the meeting concludes, meeting organizers do not need to manually copy questions from the chat history. Google Meet automatically compiles an organized spreadsheet report containing all submitted questions, voter counts, and response statuses, delivering the file straight to the host’s Google Drive and registered email address for post-session follow-up.

Adopting the Q&A feature in Google Meet ensures professional, structured interaction during company presentations while giving every participant an equal voice.
