How to Check IMEI on iPhone

The Cryptographic Hardware Identifier Vector

Every single cellular device manufactured on the planet is mathematically assigned a globally unique 15-digit string known as the IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity). This alphanumeric payload is hard-coded into the logic board’s baseband modem at the factory. If your iPhone is stolen, your cellular provider (AT&T, Vodafone) requires this exact mathematical string to inject it into a global blacklist, completely severing the hardware’s ability to connect to any cellular tower worldwide. You must interrogate the iOS kernel to extract this critical telemetry.

How to Check IMEI on iPhone

Apple engineered multiple execution pathways to extract this 15-digit payload: a raw USSD code injection, a deep Settings audit, or a physical inspection of the chassis.

1. Method 1: The Raw USSD Interrogation (The Fastest Protocol):
* This is the mathematically purest method, bypassing the iOS GUI entirely and querying the baseband modem directly.
* Unlock your iPhone and open the native Phone app.
* Tap the Keypad tab at the bottom of the screen.
* Type exactly: *#06#
* The Execution: You do not need to press the green Call button. The microsecond you press the final `#` symbol, a grey modal matrix will instantly spawn, displaying the EID, IMEI, and MEID as raw mathematical strings.
2. Method 2: The Master Settings Registry Audit:
* If you need to digitally copy and paste the 15-digit string into an email or a police report, the USSD method prevents text selection. You must use the Settings matrix.
* Open the native Settings app.
* Scroll down and tap on General.
* Tap the very first option at the top: About.
* You are now viewing the master hardware registry. Scroll down the page past the network and serial number data.
* Locate the specific row explicitly labelled IMEI (usually located under a sub-heading for “Primary” or “Physical SIM”).
* Press and hold your finger directly on the 15-digit number. A small “Copy” button will materialize, allowing you to extract the payload to your clipboard.
3. Method 3: The Physical Hardware Inspection (The Failsafe):
* If the iPhone’s screen is completely shattered or the logic board is dead, you cannot use the software pathways.
* Modern iPhones (iPhone 8 and newer): Eject the SIM card tray using a specialized tool or a paperclip. Use a magnifying glass to look at the physical metal tray. The 15-digit IMEI is laser-etched directly into the metal.
* Legacy iPhones (iPhone 6/6s/7): Flip the phone over. The IMEI is laser-etched into the bottom center of the rear aluminum casing.
