The Power Telemetry Vector
By default, modern versions of macOS display a minimalist battery icon in the top right corner of the screen. While aesthetically clean, this tiny icon provides a highly inaccurate visual representation of your remaining power. A half-full icon could mean you have 40% battery remaining, or it could mean you are dangerously close to 15% and imminent shutdown. If you are rendering video or preparing for a long flight, you must force the operating system to render a mathematically precise numerical percentage next to the icon.
How to Show the Battery Percentage
Apple moved the master configuration toggle for the primary menu bar out of the Battery settings and into the dedicated Control Centre matrix.
1. Click the Apple Logo in the absolute top-left corner of the screen.
2. Select System Settings from the dropdown menu (or System Preferences on older OS versions).
3. In the left-hand navigation sidebar, scroll down until you locate Control Centre. Click it.
4. The main pane will now display every single module available for your top menu bar.
5. Scroll down this pane until you reach the section titled Other Modules.
6. Locate the Battery module.
7. The Configuration Swap: You will see an option explicitly labelled Show Percentage.
8. Click the toggle switch next to it to move it to the On position (it will turn blue/green depending on your accent color).
The modification is executed immediately by the graphical server. Look at the extreme top-right corner of your screen; a precise numerical value (e.g., 78%) is now permanently anchored directly to the left of the battery icon, providing exact telemetry data.
