How to Disable Haptic Feedback for System Controls on iPhone

The Sensory Overload Vector

Apple deeply integrates its Taptic Engine into the iOS experience. By default, your iPhone provides subtle physical vibrations (haptic feedback) when you perform system-level actions: toggling a switch in Settings, scrolling through a date picker wheel, long-pressing an icon, or successfully authenticating a payment. While intended to provide tactile confirmation, this constant buzzing can be highly distracting, physically irritating to some users, and contributes to unnecessary battery drain.

How to Disable System Haptics

You can instruct the iPhone to completely sever the connection between interface interactions and the physical vibration motor.

1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
2. Scroll down and tap on Sounds & Haptics.
3. Scroll down to the very bottom of this long menu.
4. Locate the section titled System Haptics & Sounds.
5. Find the master toggle switch labelled System Haptics.
6. Tap the toggle to switch it to the Off position (the switch will turn grey).

Your iPhone will immediately stop buzzing when navigating menus or toggling switches. Please note that disabling this setting does not affect vibration alerts for incoming phone calls or text messages; it strictly governs the tactile feedback of the operating system interface.
