The Interface Accidental Trigger Vector
macOS includes a long-standing feature known as Hot Corners. When configured, moving your mouse cursor to one of the four extreme corners of the screen instantly triggers a system-level action (such as locking the screen, launching Mission Control, or opening the Desktop). While intended as a productivity shortcut, it frequently results in highly disruptive, accidental triggers when merely trying to close a window or access a menu bar item.
How to Disable Hot Corners
Disabling this feature prevents macOS from executing actions based purely on cursor positioning.
1. Click the Apple Logo in the top-left corner of the screen.
2. Select System Settings from the dropdown menu.
3. In the left-hand sidebar, scroll down and click on Desktop & Dock.
4. Scroll to the very bottom of the main pane and click the Hot Corners… button.
5. A dialogue box representing the four corners of your screen will appear.
6. Click each of the four dropdown menus and select the blank line (represented by a simple hyphen –) at the top of the list.
7. Once all four corners are set to the blank hyphen, click Done.
Your cursor can now move freely into any corner of the screen without accidentally triggering an unwanted system action.
