How to Disable Charging Reminders on Apple Watch

The Nightly Nag

If you use your Apple Watch for sleep tracking, Apple assumes you need a strict battery management routine to ensure the watch doesn’t die in the middle of the night. By default, if the watch detects that its battery is below 30% shortly before your scheduled iPhone “Wind Down” or bedtime routine begins, it will aggressively push a notification to your wrist reminding you to put the watch on the magnetic charger before you go to sleep. If you don’t actually use the watch to track your sleep and always leave it on the charger overnight anyway, this daily reminder is completely useless and annoying. You can safely turn it off.

How to Turn Off Charging Reminders

You must disable this specific battery notification from the companion app on your iPhone, not the watch itself.

  1. Open the Watch app on your iPhone.
  2. Ensure you are on the My Watch tab at the bottom left of the screen.
  3. Scroll down the main list and tap on Sleep.
  4. Look under the “Battery” section near the bottom of the page.
  5. You will see a toggle switch labeled Charging Reminders.
  6. Toggle this switch to the Off position (the green background will disappear).

The Silent Evening

The change is instantaneous. The Apple Watch will continue to track your sleep perfectly fine (if you choose to wear it), but it will never again interrupt your evening routine to nag you about its battery percentage. It is now entirely your responsibility to ensure the device has enough power to survive the night.
