When you open a new tab in the Safari browser on a Mac, you are greeted by the Start Page. By default, this page is densely packed with information, including your Favorites, Frequently Visited sites, your Reading List, and a section called “Siri Suggests.”
The “Siri Suggests” feature automatically scans your Messages, Mail, and browsing habits to recommend links it thinks you might want to read. For many users, this feature feels intrusive. It clutters the interface with unrequested links and can easily expose private messages or sensitive articles to anyone glancing over your shoulder when you open a new tab.
How to Disable ‘Siri Suggests’ on the Safari Start Page
You can easily customise the Start Page and completely remove this invasive section.
- Open the Safari browser on your Mac.
- Open a New Tab (Command + T) so that you are looking at the main Start Page.
- Look at the very bottom-right corner of the Safari window. You will see a small icon that looks like a set of slider switches (Settings).
- Click this settings icon to open the Start Page customisation menu.
- A list of checkboxes will appear, dictating what is allowed to display on the page.
- Find the checkbox labelled Siri Suggests and uncheck it.
The entire Siri Suggests section, along with all its AI-generated links and scraped message data, will instantly vanish from the Start Page.
For an even cleaner, faster, and more minimalist browsing experience, you can continue unchecking options in this menu (such as “Privacy Report” or “Frequently Visited”) until you are left with nothing but your most important bookmarks and a clean background.
