Microsoft Edge includes a built-in “Math Solver” tool designed to help students and professionals solve complex mathematical equations by either typing them in or capturing a screenshot of an equation on a web page. While this is a genuinely useful feature for an educational setting, it is entirely unnecessary for the vast majority of enterprise users or casual home users. Having the Math Solver enabled adds another background component to the browser, clutters the “More Tools” menu, and presents a potential, albeit minor, attack surface for enterprise administrators aiming to lock down their corporate browser deployment.
This guide explains how to completely disable the Math Solver feature in Microsoft Edge, permanently removing it from the browser’s interface.
Disable Math Solver via Settings
You can easily turn off the Math Solver feature through the browser’s standard Appearance settings.
- Launch the Microsoft Edge browser.
- Click on the Settings and more button (the three horizontal dots) located in the top-right corner of the window.
- From the drop-down menu, click on Settings (the gear icon).
- In the left-hand navigation sidebar, select Appearance.
- Scroll down the Appearance page until you locate the Customize browser section.

The Resulting Experience
