Presenter Coach is an AI-driven feature integrated into modern versions of Microsoft PowerPoint (specifically Microsoft 365 and PowerPoint for the Web). It utilizes your computer’s microphone to listen to your rehearsal, providing real-time on-screen feedback regarding your pacing, use of filler words (like “um” and “uh”), and whether you are simply reading the text directly off the slides. While highly beneficial for public speaking practice, Presenter Coach can be deeply annoying if you are merely running through a deck to check animations or timing, as the constant pop-up notifications disrupt your focus.

Disable Presenter Coach During a Rehearsal
Presenter Coach is not a background process that runs permanently; it is a specific mode you choose to enter. However, many users accidentally trigger it by clicking the wrong button in the Slide Show ribbon. If you find yourself in a session where the Coach is actively criticizing you, you can disable the real-time feedback immediately.
- While in the active presentation mode (where your slides occupy the full screen), look for the small Presenter Coach toolbar hovering in the bottom-right corner of your display.
- This toolbar contains a microphone icon and a timer.
- Click the Pause button (the two vertical lines) on the toolbar.
- Once paused, the AI stops listening to your microphone, and the real-time criticism pop-ups will cease.
- Press the Esc key on your keyboard to completely exit the rehearsal mode. You will be presented with a “Rehearsal Report” summarizing the session—simply close this window.
Prevent Presenter Coach from Launching

- Do not click the button labelled “Rehearse with Coach.”

- If you simply want to view the presentation normally, click From Beginning (or press F5) or From Current Slide (Shift+F5).
