Starting your workday by scrambling through different apps to figure out what meetings you have scheduled is a stressful way to begin the morning. It is incredibly easy to miss an early appointment if you do not actively open your calendar application before your first cup of coffee.
To solve this, Google Calendar includes a highly useful, yet somewhat hidden, feature that will automatically email you a daily agenda. Every morning at 5:00 AM (in your local time zone), Google will send a single, concise email listing every event you have scheduled for the upcoming day, allowing you to review your entire itinerary directly from your inbox.
Enabling the Daily Agenda Email
This setting must be enabled on a per-calendar basis. If you manage a personal calendar and a work calendar, you must turn the feature on for each one individually.
- Open your web browser and navigate to calendar.google.com.
- Look at the left-hand sidebar under the My calendars section.
- Hover your mouse over the specific calendar you want a daily digest for (e.g., your primary work calendar).
- Click the Options icon (three vertical dots) that appears next to the calendar name.
- Select Settings and sharing from the popup menu.
- On the settings page, look at the navigation menu on the far left side and click on Other notifications.
- In the main panel, you will see a setting labelled Daily agenda.
- Click the dropdown menu next to it and change the setting from “None” to Email.
How the Digest Works
Once enabled, you do not need to do anything else. Google’s servers will automatically generate the email every single morning.
The email will arrive in the inbox associated with your Google Account precisely at 5:00 AM. It will contain a chronological list of your events, their start and end times, and any location data attached to them. If you have absolutely nothing scheduled for that specific day, Google will still send the email, but it will simply state that you have no upcoming events, giving you peace of mind that the system is still working.
