In a bid to compete with extensions like Honey, Microsoft integrated a native shopping assistant directly into the Edge browser. When you visit an e-commerce website like Amazon or Best Buy, Edge will automatically slide a large banner down from the address bar, aggressively prompting you to apply auto-discovered coupon codes or check price history charts.
While this can occasionally save you money, the pop-up is highly distracting. It blocks the top navigation bar of most websites, requires manual dismissal, and gives the impression that the browser is actively reading the contents of your shopping cart.
If you prefer a clean browsing experience without aggressive retail up-selling, you can completely disable the Edge Shopping feature.
How to Turn Off the Edge Shopping Assistant
You can disable the coupon feature from the Edge settings menu.
- Open the Microsoft Edge browser.
- Click the three horizontal dots in the top-right corner of the window.
- Select Settings from the drop-down menu.
- In the left-hand navigation sidebar, click on Privacy, search, and services.
- Scroll all the way down the right pane until you reach the section labeled “Services.”
- Look for the toggle switch labeled Save time and money with Shopping in Microsoft Edge.
- Turn this toggle to the Off position.
The change takes effect immediately. The next time you visit a retail website, the blue price tag icon will no longer appear in your address bar, and the browser will never again interrupt your checkout process with automated coupon suggestions.
