How to Share a Contact via Bluetooth or Nearby Share on Android

When you are in close physical proximity to a colleague and need to transfer a highly complex vCard payload (containing multiple phone numbers, physical addresses, and corporate metadata), relying on SMS or email is mathematically inefficient. To force the Android OS to execute a zero-latency, peer-to-peer hardware transfer, you must deploy the Bluetooth or Nearby Share (NFC/WiFi Direct) matrix natively within Google Contacts.

Executing the Hardware Proximity Matrix (Android)

The native Google Contacts application is deeply integrated with the Android kernel’s hardware abstraction layer, allowing it to bypass cellular networks and transmit data directly through the device’s localized radio antennas.

  1. Ensure that Bluetooth (and Location services, if using Nearby Share/Quick Share) is actively enabled on both your device and the recipient’s device.
  2. Open the native Google Contacts application on your Android smartphone.
  3. Locate and tap on the specific target profile (or your own profile) to enter the primary data view.
  4. Look at the absolute top-right corner of the interface. Tap the Share icon (three interconnected dots) or tap the three-dot menu icon and select Share.

Deploying the Peer-to-Peer Payload

  1. The Android OS will spawn the global Share Sheet overlay.
  2. To execute a legacy radio transfer, tap the Bluetooth icon. The OS will scan the local airspace for paired or discoverable devices. Tap the recipient’s hardware ID to instantly blast the vCard payload across the Bluetooth frequency.
  3. To execute a high-speed, modern transfer, tap Nearby Share (recently rebranded as Quick Share on modern Android kernels).
  4. The OS will initiate a highly complex handshake utilizing Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) to detect the recipient, and then mathematically negotiate the fastest possible transfer protocol (often switching to a direct WiFi matrix for instantaneous delivery).
  5. The recipient will receive a system-level prompt to accept the inbound data. The exact millisecond they tap Accept, the vCard is injected directly into their local address book.
