When you are transmitting a highly sensitive PDF document containing cryptographic keys, financial ledgers, or proprietary architecture over an unencrypted network vector, sending the file in plaintext is a catastrophic security failure. To force the macOS neural engine to inject a mathematically complex encryption algorithm into the PDF architecture and lock the data matrix behind a cryptographic password, you must utilize the native Preview application.
Initializing the Encryption Protocol
The Preview application does not just apply a superficial lock; it physically rewrites the PDF architecture using strong encryption standards.
- Locate your sensitive PDF file in Finder and double-click to open it natively in Preview.
- Look at the absolute top menu bar of your Mac display. Click File.
