The default white mouse cursor in Windows 11 with its thin black border is perfectly functional, but it can easily get lost on bright websites or large high-resolution monitors. Whether you suffer from vision impairment or simply want to add a splash of personal style to your desktop, Windows 11 allows you to change the cursor to any colour you like.
How to Change the Cursor Color
- Press the Windows Key + I on your keyboard to open the Settings app.
- In the left-hand sidebar, click on Accessibility.
- Under the “Vision” section on the right, click on Mouse pointer and touch.
- You will see a section labelled “Mouse pointer style” with four different icons. Click the fourth icon (the one on the far right that looks like a Custom coloured arrow).
Choosing Your Custom Colour
Once you select the Custom option, Windows will immediately change your cursor to a bright neon green/yellow and present you with a palette of “Recommended colours”.
- Click any of the recommended colours (like purple, pink, or blue) to apply it instantly.
- If you don’t like any of the default options, click the Choose another colour button (the plus icon).
- A full colour picker window will appear. You can drag the circle to the exact hue you want, and adjust the slider at the bottom to change how dark or light the colour is. Click Done when you are satisfied.
If you find that a brightly coloured cursor is still hard to see, you can use the Size slider on the same settings page to make the cursor significantly larger, ensuring you never lose track of your mouse again.
