How to Connect AirPods to a Mac

Apple’s AirPods are famous for their “magic” ability to connect instantly to an iPhone just by opening the lid. However, connecting them to a MacBook, iMac, or Mac mini sometimes requires a slightly more manual approach, especially if you are connecting them to your Mac for the very first time.

Method 1: The Automatic Hand-off (If using the same Apple ID)

If you have already paired your AirPods with your iPhone, and your Mac is signed into the exact same Apple ID (iCloud account), you might not need to pair them at all.

1. Put your AirPods in your ears.
2. On your Mac, click the Control Center icon (the two small switches) in the top right corner of the menu bar.
